Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air fuel ratio control device for an internal combustion engine capable of improving feedback performance of downstream side air fuel ratio and maximize catalyst performance. SOLUTION: This invented air fuel ratio control device is provided with an upstream side air fuel ratio sensor 10 provided in a passage on an upstream side of a three-way catalyst 8 and detecting air fuel ratio of an engine, a downstream side air fuel ratio sensor 11 provided in a passage on a downstream side of the three-way catalyst and detecting air fuel ratio after the three way catalyst, and ECU 21. The ECU 21 is provided with a downstream air fuel ratio sensor output phase advance operation means performing phase advance operation of downstream side air fuel ratio sensor output, a target upstream air fuel ratio operation means operating a target upstream air fuel ratio to make output of the downstream air fuel ratio sensor output phase advance operation means coincide with the target downstream air fuel ratio, An air fuel ratio correction amount operation means operating an air fuel ratio correction amount to make upstream air fuel ratio coincide with the target upstream air fuel ratio and a fuel injection quantity regulating means regulating fuel injection quantity according to the air fuel ratio correction amount. 【課題】 下流側空燃比のフィードバック性能を向上させ、触媒性能を最大限に引き出すことのできる内燃機関の空燃比制御装置を得る。 【解決手段】 この発明の空燃比制御装置は、三元触媒8の上流側の通路に設けられ、機関の空燃比を検出する上流側空燃比センサ10と、三元触媒の下流側の通路に設けられ、三元触媒後の空燃比を検出する下流側空燃比センサ11と、ECU21を備え、ECU21には、下流側空燃比センサ出力を位相進み演算する下流空燃比センサ出力位相進み演算手段と、下流空燃比センサ出力位相進み演算手段の出力が目標下流空燃比に一致するように、目標上流空燃比を演算する目標上流空燃比演算手段と、上流空燃比が目標上流空燃比に一致するように空燃比補正量を演算する空燃比補正量演算手段と、前記空燃比補正量に応じて燃料噴射量を調整する燃料噴射量調整手段とを備えている。 【選択図】図1
