Steel for induction hardening

Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide steel for induction hardening having excellent delayed fracture resistance, in which delayed fracture is less liable to be generated even as induction-hardened after machining into a product shape, thus which can be suitably used, e.g., for a crankshaft of a reciprocating engine. SOLUTION: The steel for induction hardening has a steel composition comprising 0.20 to <0.40% C, 0.35 to 2.0% Si, 0.05 to 2.0% Mn, ≤0.030% P, 0.005 to 0.1% S, 0.05 to 2.0% Cr, ≤0.010% N, 0.0003 to 0.0030% B and 0.001 to 0.05% Al, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and in which the content of solid solution B is ≥(0.0061×P-0.00001)%. 【課題】 製品形状へ機械加工した後に高周波焼入れままでも遅れ破壊が発生し難いことから、例えば往復動機関のクランクシャフト用として好適に用いることができる耐遅れ破壊性に優れた高周波焼入れ用鋼を提供する。 【解決手段】 C:0.20%以上0.40%未満、Si:0.35〜2.0%、Mn:0.05〜2.0%、P:0.030%以下、S:0.005〜0.1%、Cr:0.05〜2.0%、N:0.010%以下、B:0.0003〜0.0030%、Al:0.001〜0.05%を含有し、固溶B:(0.0061×P−0.00001)%以上、残部Fe及び不可避的不純物からなる鋼組成を有する高周波焼入れ用鋼である。 【選択図】 図1
